Welcome to the Discarded Image Classical Christian Tutorials. (About the Instructor)
We are dedicated to providing low-cost tutoring for (1) homeschoolers (9th grade and above), (2) Christian school students, and (3) working adults who wish to continue their education on their own time and according to their own interests. We provide tutoring in various Humanities subjects, including Literature, History, Rhetoric, and classical languages. Our tutorials are self-consciously motivated by a Christian worldview, and are firmly grounded in the primary texts relevant to each subject. Our goal, regardless of the subject, is to bring every thought into the obedience of Christ (2 Cor. 10:5).
The curriculum we use for humanities subjects is the Veritas Press Omnibus program. At present we offer tutoring in Omnibus levels I and III. We plan to expand to cover the other Omnibus levels soon. Our Latin curriculum has two options. The first is the Lingua Latina series, by Hans Orberg. The second is the popular Henle Latin program.
Please note that courses taken from The Discarded Image are not formally accredited by any official agency. We are committed to working with such agencies (such as Christian high schools) where possible by issuing grade reports and recommendations, but we cannot guarantee acceptance of our credits by any such agencies.
